Initially, they were my 2-hour-per-week "oasis of calm", providing relief from my stressful TV job and otherwise hectic life in the city.
From there began a gradual process, whereby I could ease my pregnancy aches and pains, connect with my baby, feel relaxed and energised, gain confidence and knowledge about the birth process.
Active Birth workshops also helped my husband and I prepare for birth and early parenthood.
The birth of my first son was a very empowering experience, and I am convinced that without the preparation from the pregnancy yoga and Active Birth classes it could have been a very different scenario.
Attending postnatal yoga and baby massage classes was also a wonderful and supportive experience, and I treasure the memories.
After becoming a mum, I began to take an interest in a more holistic and natural approach to life and parenting, and decided to re-train so that I could pass on some of the knowledge and tools to others that I had found so helpful during pregnancy, birth and the postnatal months.
Following the birth of my second son, I learnt massage and reiki, then undertook professional training at the Active Birth Centre and International School of Baby Massage, also Doula training with Michel Odent.
I have been running Karma Birth in the Bedford area since 2009. As well as my own private clients and classes at quiet village halls and holistic/yoga centres, I have also enjoyed teaching various groups for the local authority, health club members and covering classes at the Active Birth Centre, where it all began for me. In summer 2019, I opened Little Breathing Space, an holistic cabin studio in Bedfordshire, where I am now based for most of my classes and treatments.
I live in Bromham, Bedfordshire with my husband and our three children (each born in different ways: birth centre water birth, hospital delivery room birth, and c-section, so they have provided me with a variety of experiences!)
Yoga, my clients and children have taught - and continue to teach - me the power of gentle strength, flexibility, and patience, and the importance of an open heart and mind. This work is very special and I enjoy always learning more; about yoga, energy work, massage, doula support, health and wellbeing. I am full of gratitude that I can be of some help and support for women through one of the most important journeys of their life - into motherhood - and way beyond...now with Karma Nurture I have clients whose children are older, or grown, and some who do not have children.
